What to do so that doing the laundry isn”t a nightmare?
Nobody likes doing the laundry, but everyone has to do it, which is why we recommend that you take a close look at these tips:
- I’m sure you’ve seen the film Mary Poppins. Well, she sang that “a spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down”. In other words, don’t get annoyed and try to be cheerful about it.
- Read the labels of all the clothes you are going to wash for the first time. That way you will avoid unpleasant surprises.
- Although there are tricks and detergents designed for a mixed wash, it’s better to separate whites from coloureds.
- Don’t put the clothes in the washing machine all crumpled up. They won’t wash properly and will be much harder to iron.
- Check pockets for paper tissues, coins, notes or any other item that may lose its value after a thorough wash.
- Hang clothes out immediately after the washing machine has finished its work.
- Stretch clothes out on the clothesline as much as you can. The more stretched out they are, the fewer creases you’ll have to iron out. But don’t overdo it, or your clothes will get damaged.
- Hang your clothes out by section: the socks all together and coupled, the underwear on one side and everything else on the other. This will help take it down much faster.
- Socks and underwear don’t have to be ironed, so when you take them down, fold them and put them in the drawer.
- And lastly, don’t wait until you have a mountain of clothes to wash or iron, because it will be a mountain of work.
